Choose an agency

Initially, the entry must be made within an organization that has obtained authorization from the U.S. State Department to offer this program..

All information can guide you to choose your agency. Know that whatever agency you choose from this list, your choice is quite reliable!

If you listen to the testimony given by former au pairs, you will find positive and negative evidence in all these agencies. No agencies put you away from problems and in all organisms, there are people you do not find relevant.

What you need to attach particular importance, there are other details such as:
- Places of interviews (attention, but not limited to the forum! Think to contact the office nearest you)
- Departure cities (same remark)
- Specific conditions (if you're a boy, if you do not have a license ...)
- Cost (beware, many things to consider: registration, insurance, national ticket in the U.S., bond ...)
- Choice of place of employment (Agent for Cultural Care Au Pair)
- Etc. etc..

Steps

Step 1: File

NB: Be careful with Calvin Thomas (french agency), the file arrives in step 2, after the interview!

The files are quite similar from one organization to another, they generally include:

- A folder filled with various information
- References
- A medical certificate
- A police record
- A copy of the baccalaureate
- A letter for the family
- A photo montage

On the forum, you will find a general topic on the file , where there are issues which may affect any folder.

Then, for each body a category for the folder will be create and will provides more specific information.

Step 2: Interview

In general, interview consists of:

- A psychometric test
- An interview in English

The test is sometimes in your language, sometimes in English, sometimes it shows you videos, etc. etc..

We will need to have testimonies to make a special section who gonna explain how the interview works.

Step 3: Finding family

Once the file is verified and accepted by the acency, you go to step CALLS! ...
A time when it often takes patience, where we stay near the phone, where you check your emails every 5 minutes ...

Once you have found the family, placement is confirmed by your agency!

Note: Some people choose to register on sites of family research to accelerate the search. It is also recommended to pay close attention to the scams and to accept a family only if it is registered or register with an agency!

Step 4: Visa

For this step, you will receive complete information by your agency after your investment. You will need to make an appointment with the Embassy and fill out forms on internet (all indications will be given).
