Lexicon of the au pair
Match: the "match" is use to describe the placement. You " Matched " when a family suggests you to become there au pair and when you accept. (" to match " significant " agree ").
Prematch: this word means that you found your family before the agency, the research. Several scenarios are possible:
- You found your family and you are registered in the same agency as them.
- You found your family and it is them who joined your agency.
- You were neither the one, nor the other one in a agency and agreed on a agency to make this prematch.
The prematch is transformed into match when you both finalized the registration.
Rematch: if you are in disagreement with your host family. They are too much things that makes you feel bad to live with them, or they will prefere have somebody else ... you can ask to rematch. Rematch means : Leave a family and try to match with another one. Sometimes it s not easy.
Counselor: it is the voluntary person who has the responsibility of a cluster, that is a group defined of aupairs. He / she takes care of you upon your arrival in your host family, organizes your meetings or still helps you in case of rematch. She/he organizes meetings.
Meeting: it is a monthly meeting organized by your counselor in charge for whom your presence is more than requested. She/he allows you another way to discover the American culture by exits, evenings or visits, as well as to socialize you with the others aupairs of your cluster.
Cluster: group of aupais to which you belong according to your geographical region and your local membership. Aupairs come from any horizons, from any nationalities.
